While Samsung sits at the top of global smartphone sales, one market resists it: the United States.

But in the third quarter of 2020, the South Korean manufacturer managed to sell more smartphones there than Apple.

In recent months, Samsung sales have represented 33.7% of the US market against "only" 30.2% for Apple.

The case is rare.

The last time that Samsung had succeeded in dethroning the apple brand in the United States, it was in the second quarter of 2017, recalls Presse-Citron.

These results represent an increase of 6.7 points for Samsung compared to the same period in 2019. A good performance achieved thanks to a varied offer.

The South Korean company indeed offers both low-cost and mid-range laptops, but also premium models such as the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Z Fold 2.

Another advantage for the firm this year, Apple had to postpone the release of its iPhone 12 from September to October.

And again, only the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro have already been available since October.

The iPhone 12 mini and the iPhone 12 Pro Max are still due out in November.
