Russia requested a meeting of the UN Security Council on August 11 due to the attacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant

“Russia requested a meeting of the UN Security Council for the afternoon of August 11 in connection with the Ukrainian attacks on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in recent days and their possible catastrophic consequences,” he said.

It is noted that Russia would like to see IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi as a speaker.

Earlier, the military-civilian administration of Energodar reported that on the night of August 7, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant from the Uragan MLRS.

Igor Vishnevetsky, Deputy Director of the Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Foreign Ministry, expressed concern that the shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant by the Armed Forces of Ukraine could lead to disaster.

Also, the head of the National Defense Control Center of Russia, Mikhail Mizintsev, warned that in the event of an accident at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant due to attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a global man-made disaster would occur, which would exceed the scale of the consequences of accidents at nuclear power plants in Chernobyl and Fukushima.
