The Russian Ministry of Health announced on its page on the social networking site "Facebook" that Russian hospitals will receive this week, "Avavavir" to treat patients with "Covid-19".

The Ministry stressed that the aforementioned medicine will be provided free of charge to all those in need through the compulsory health insurance policy.

Avivavir is the first Russian antiretroviral drug approved by the Russian Ministry of Health.

Avivavir is produced as part of a joint venture of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the Khimar group to manufacture drugs, based on the "faviravir", which was used in Japan in 2014 to treat difficult flu cases.

And the Russian health authorities announced recently, that the preliminary results of testing the local "Avavavir" drug for people with coronavirus showed its effectiveness by 90%.
