His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, yesterday inaugurated an environmental initiative to plant and afforest the Pomegranate Mountain in the city of Kalba. Kalba Commercial Center.

The initiative to cultivate the pomegranate mountain comes as a continuation of His Highness's efforts to preserve the mountain environment, planting it with trees that are compatible with its environmental components, and naming the mountains after the trees planted on them.

The height of the pomegranate mountain is 1100 meters, and the parts of the mountain will be planted and afforested with pomegranate trees, which are perennial plants, and continue to produce for about 50 years, and ranges between three and five meters in length, and withstand low temperatures, and can be grown at different heights from the sea surface, sometimes reaching To 4,000 feet or more.

His Highness was briefed on a number of development and environmental projects that will be held in the city of Kalba.

Among them is the Jabal al-Kitab Rest House, which is located at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level, and will be constructed according to the highest international standards and specifications, to serve visitors and tourists, and includes a restaurant and café, and will be provided with a range of service facilities and panoramic views.

The lounge can accommodate 110 people, and the outdoor balcony can accommodate 100 people.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi inaugurated the Kalba Commercial Center, toured its facilities and departments, and listened to an overview of the center’s project stages, and what it will provide in terms of stores and services for the people and visitors of the city of Kalba.

His Highness inspected the Sharjah Cooperative Society branch, and looked at the exhibits and products of various kinds, and what the association contains in terms of dry foodstuffs, cheeses, butchery and fish, vegetables and fruits, milk, beverages, freezers, organic and health products, cosmetics and household items, and includes more than 18 thousand different items.

His Highness was briefed on the plans and objectives of the Kalba Commercial Center in supporting various economic sectors, and the investment opportunities it will provide in support of the commercial sector in the city.

The center is characterized by its strategic location, and its proximity to the Mangroves Reserve, the Kalba Corniche, and government and university buildings, and it is located on an area of ​​22,804 square meters, and includes 38 shops and 10 kiosks, a cinema, a sports club, a recreational area that can accommodate 600 visitors, and 318 parking spaces.
