The singer and rock musician Dominic Sonic, a figure of the Rennes rock scene of the 1980s, died Thursday in Pantin at the age of 56 after a long illness, we learned from his turner. Born in Dinan (Côtes-d'Armor) in 1964, the artist, who shared the Rennes rock scene with Etienne Daho or Marquis de Sade, had just recorded an album in recent months which will be released very soon.

On his Facebook page, in a photo posted on July 1, the musician appears seated, guitar in hand, in what appears to be a recording studio, above this comment dated June 27 where you can read in particular: "10 songs in three days". He also announced “a second album being finished”.

In 2011, during a memorable evening in Rennes, Dominic Sonic reformed for one evening his original formation, the Kalashnikovs, a punk group with which he had toured for several years when he left high school. The Kalashnikovs had taken the stage that evening with other Rennes punk groups of the time, such as Frakture, Trotskids, P38 or Wart. Last year, it was Philippe Pascal (singer of the Marquis de Sade) who died.

We have just learned with immense pain of the disappearance of Dominic Sonic.
Jury of the Jeunes Charrues springboard from 1996 to 2013, he participated twice in the festival, in 2004 and in 2016.
He was also and above all a great friend of the Vieilles Charrues.
