Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In view of the many vaccinations in old people's and nursing homes, relaxation of the corona requirements there is possible in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The revised ordinance will come into force on April 1, as Social Minister Stefanie Drese (SPD) announced on Monday in Schwerin.

Every resident should be able to be visited by two people a day over Easter.

The residents should be able to eat together again and take advantage of more group offers.

After Easter, visits should be allowed for at least four hours a day, a person limit is then no longer provided, as a spokesman said.

In the northeast, a first vaccination was offered in all old people's and nursing homes, and in 99 percent the necessary second vaccination was also offered.

However, the easing is linked to conditions.

According to the ministry, this includes, for example, that the second vaccinations against the coronavirus in the respective facility were more than 14 days ago and there is no infection.

The mandatory tests for visitors and employees should be strictly maintained.

"Since the beginning of the pandemic, residents of senior citizens' and care facilities have been exposed to stresses that go far beyond that of other citizens," said Drese.

"Now that the vaccinations have taken place in all nursing homes, we want to enable them to have more social contacts again."
