At the beginning of the construction of the reserve, the number of Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys was estimated to be less than 500. The number surveyed in 1995 was about 800-1000, the number surveyed in 2004 was about 1,200, and the number monitored in 2010 was about 1,500. The current number of Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys About 2500 or so, accounting for more than 70% of the entire Yunnan golden monkey population.
