Baima Snow Mountain National Nature Reserve is located in the core area of the "Three Parallel Rivers" World Natural Heritage.
After long-term protection, the population and overall number of Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys continue to grow.
Through the strengthening of protection in the nature reserve, the population of the flagship species Yunnan golden monkey, distributed in the Baima Snow Mountain Nature Reserve, has shown a steady growth.
At the beginning of the construction of the reserve, the number of Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys was estimated to be less than 500. The number surveyed in 1995 was about 800-1000, the number surveyed in 2004 was about 1,200, and the number monitored in 2010 was about 1,500.
