"RDIF announced the results of a study in Argentina that show that the Russian Sputnik V vaccine is highly effective in preventing COVID-19 infection in people over 60," the fund said.

It is noted that the study involved 660 thousand residents of Buenos Aires aged 60 and over, who were vaccinated with Sputnik V, AstraZeneca or Sinopharm.

“The results of the study show that the infection rate has decreased by more than 88% among those who have completed the full course of vaccination with Sputnik V,” added the RDIF.

According to him, a full course of vaccination with a Russian drug has reduced mortality from COVID-19 by 96.6%.

Earlier, the director of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Vasily Akimkin, said that one case of the lambda strain and three cases of the mu strain were detected in Russia.
