Rapper and producer Kanye West, who advocates in one of his songs to "aim for the stars", announced his candidacy for the US presidential election next November.

"We must now fulfill America's promise by trusting God, unifying our visions and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! # 2020VISION" tweet rapper and producer Kanye West. The 43-year-old entrepreneur billionaire, who calls in one of his songs to "aim for the stars, and like that if you fail you land on a cloud" ("reach for the stars so if you fall you land on a cloud") did not provide further details. He had already declared in an interview in late 2019 that he wanted to become president in 2024.

Kanye West had supported Donald Trump

The husband of reality star Kim Kardashian has been making the headlines for the past few years for his psychiatric problems, his controversial remarks on slavery and for his support for Republican President Donald Trump, who is very unpopular in the rap world.

Kanye West also met the Republican President alone in the Oval Office in 2018. Before confiding, the following year during an interview, that his support for Trump was in fact a strategy to pay the head Democrats and pave the way for their own race to the White House.

"The moment will come when I will be president of the United States," he prophesied during this interview with Zane Lowe, of the Beats 1 Show program from Apple Music. At the end of June, Kanye West released a new song with strong biblical overtones, "Wash Us In the Blood", accompanied by a clip containing images of recent anti-racism demonstrations that have rocked the United States.
