China News Service Client, May 20th. On the evening of the 19th local time, FIFA's official website announced the 2022 Qatar World Cup referee list. Chinese referee Ma Ning was selected as the main referee list, and Cao Yi and Shi Xiang were selected as assistant referees.

The list includes 36 head referees, 69 assistant referees and 24 video game officials.

FIFA's selection criteria are based on their performance and refereeing level in their football competitions and other international and domestic competitions in recent years.

"Our selection criteria have always been 'first-class', and the match officials selected represent the highest level of referees in the world," said the chairman of the FIFA Referee Committee. "The 2018 World Cup was so successful, in part because the refereeing level was so good. Gao, we will do our best in a few months to do better in Qatar."

In addition, for the first time in the history of the FIFA World Cup, the FIFA Referee Committee has appointed three female referees and three female assistant referees.

They come from six countries including France, Rwanda, Japan, Brazil, the United States and Mexico.

"What we want to stress is that it's the level of officiating, not the gender, that matters. I hope in the future picking good women's match officials for important men's matches will be seen as a normal thing. They deserve to be in FIFA World Cup, because they have been doing very well," concluded the chairman of the FIFA Referee Committee.
