A doctor from Pyrénées-Atlantiques filed a complaint against a patient after a home consultation this Friday evening.
The practitioner, a member of SOS Médecin, said she was threatened with death by the individual, unhappy not to be hospitalized.
He was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
The attack caused the victim's colleagues to react, says France 3 Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
Health professionals from SOS Médecin in the Pau Sud and Lescar sectors and in a sector of Oloron (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) were on strike all day this Saturday.
They intended to protest against the fate reserved for their colleague and their difficult working conditions.

The attacked doctor "was in a state of psychological stress and was no longer able to work after this shock", explained the president of SOS Médecins in Pau, Sébastien Uytewaal.
“We decided to make a right of withdrawal out of solidarity […] and to bring the case back up,” he said.
