"Russia's commitment to comply with contractual obligations for the supply of natural gas to Austria has been reaffirmed," the Kremlin's press service said.

The day before, Vladimir Putin, in a conversation with Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, said that Russia was ready to continue to supply uninterrupted natural gas to Italy.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said earlier that about half of the 54 companies that are customers of Gazprom Export opened ruble accounts to pay for Russian gas.

He added that the list of buyers who agreed to pay for gas in rubles will become known in the coming days.
