Pushkov noted that winter is not a fatal natural phenomenon, but a "conscious choice" of the ruling elites.

He also recalled the refusal of Britain to provide security guarantees for Russia and the adoption of "stupid sanctions", which, as it turned out, had a greater impact on Europe.

“The mayor of London should not complain about the winter, but make claims against those who led many Britons to the prospect of a winter without heat and food,” the senator wrote in his Telegram channel.

Mayor of London Sadiq Khan earlier on Twitter urged the UK government to limit the rise in energy prices, otherwise the inhabitants of the country will not be able to afford heating or food in winter.

He also cited statistics from Bloomberg, according to which the average electricity bill in the UK could exceed the all-time high.
