Hanover (dpa / lni) - Accompanied by a protest rally, the culture committee of the state parliament in Hanover is advising today on the new controversial daycare law.
Associations, organizations and trade unions should be consulted for this purpose.
The main point of criticism of the state parliament opposition and of educational associations is the lack of introduction of a third specialist for kindergarten groups, which was originally intended.
In addition, quality improvements in the daycare centers are called for.
During the first deliberations in the state parliament on the law in March, there had been criticism of the government's plans.
It is the first fundamental revision of the daycare law in almost 30 years.
It should come into force on August 1st.
A broad alliance of employees, representatives of the sponsors, parents and experts in early childhood education agree that the law is a step backwards, said Annette Klausing from the Verdi union, which called for a protest in front of the state parliament before the start of the committee meeting.
With the introduction of the exemption from fees at the kindergartens in Lower Saxony, it was promised that the quality in the daycare centers would be expanded.
"This promise is not found here again."
