The ISS is a rare example of international cooperation that has not been brought to a halt by the tensions of recent years between Russia and the western countries, nor by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Russian cargo ship Progress with more than 2.5 tonnes of cargo on board docked on Saturday with the International Space Station (ISS), the Russian space agency Roskosmos announced.

Launched on Saturday by a Soyuz rocket from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, the Progress reached the Station in record time of 3 hours 20 minutes, becoming "the fastest spacecraft in the history of flights to the ISS", according to Roskosmos.
The cargo ship, which was stowed automatically, transported fuel, water, equipment for scientific experiments, food, clothing and medicine to the ISS.
The launch was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany that Russia will celebrate on May 9, said Roskosmos. The launch rocket was decorated with the image of an orange and black ribbon of Saint George, symbol of the struggle of the Soviet people against the Nazis, according to the same source.
