Professional institutions: China, the United States and the Philippines rank among the top three 5G cities in the world

　　China News Service, Shanghai, May 10 (Reporter Jiang Yu) VIAVI Solutions (VIAVI), a professional organization, released a report "5G Deployment Status" on the 10th, stating that there are 356 cities in China and 296 cities in the United States covering 5G networks, providing global The country with the most 5G cities, the Philippines ranks third with 98 5G cities.

　　According to the report, 5G has now covered 1,947 cities around the world. Despite the impact of the epidemic, the number of 5G-covered cities is still growing at a rate of nearly two per day, with a total of 635 new cities added in 2021.

　　As of the end of January 2022, a total of 72 countries around the world have deployed 5G networks, and the latest entrants include Argentina, Bhutan, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Malta and Mauritius, all of which will launch 5G networks in the second half of 2021.

　　5G networks have been deployed in 839 cities in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), surpassing Asia Pacific (APAC) including China to become the region with the largest number of cities covered by 5G.

5G has been deployed in 689 cities in Asia Pacific and 419 in the Americas.

　　The report specifically highlights the establishment of an Open RAN (Open Radio Access Network) ecosystem in 5G networks, which brings together mobile operators and software and infrastructure Open virtualized Radio Access Network (RAN).

As of March 2022, 64 operators around the world have publicly announced their participation in the development of Open RAN.
