Prince Hamzah apologizes to the King of Jordan and admits his mistake

The Royal Hashemite Court in Jordan issued a statement today, Tuesday, announcing that King Abdullah II had received a letter from Prince Hamzah bin Al Hussein, in which he apologized to the King and the Jordanian people and acknowledged his mistake, and affirmed that he bears responsibility for the abuses committed during the past years and the subsequent events in the country. He added: "Last year, our dear Jordan passed through a difficult circumstance and an unfortunate chapter, which the homeland has overcome with the wisdom, patience and tolerance of Your Majesty. The months that have passed since that time have provided me with an opportunity for self-reflection and frankness with myself, which prompts me to write these words to Your Majesty, my older brother, and Dean Our Hashemite family, hoping to turn that page in the history of Jordan and the family.”

He continued, "I made a mistake, Your Majesty, my older brother, and most of those who do not make mistakes, have made a mistake. As I bear my national responsibility for the attitudes and abuses I have taken against His Majesty the Great King and our country during the past years and the events that followed in the case of sedition, I hope for your forgiveness, which we are accustomed to from Your Majesty." I apologize to Your Majesty, the Jordanian people, and our family for all these behaviors, which will not be repeated, with the permission of the Most Merciful.

And he continued: "I confirm, as I pledged before our uncle, His Royal Highness Prince El-Hassan bin Talal, may God protect him, that I will follow the era of the fathers and grandfathers, faithful to their legacy, loyal to their march in the service of the Jordanian people, committed to our constitution, under the wise leadership of Your Majesty, may God protect Your Majesty as an inspiring leader." And a merciful brother, and I wish your Majesty and the Crown Prince, His Highness Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, every success in serving our dear Jordan and leading its path, which, God willing, will remain a path of glory, pride and achievement. A statement from the Royal Hashemite Court stated that Prince Hamzah raised his message to the King after his meeting last Sunday evening, at his request, in the presence of Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein and Prince Ali bin Al Hussein.
