World Champion Max Verstappen has won the Formula 1 race in Imola.

The Dutchman won the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in his Red Bull on Sunday ahead of team-mate Sergio Perez from Mexico and British McLaren driver Lando Norris.

The international press writes about this:

Great Britain:

The Sun:

"Max Verstappen has reignited his Formula 1 title defense with a routine win at Imola while championship leader Charles Leclerc spun late in the race.

For Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, it was another horror show.

He had another race to forget and finished 13th.”

"Daily Mirror":

"Max Verstappen laps Lewis Hamilton and wins at Imola while Ferrari suffers disaster."

The Guardian:

"The roar of Ferrari supporters was silenced by a mishap as Leclerc succumbed to his own over-ambitiousness in the closing stages and made a major mistake that halved his championship lead and reignited a thrilling title fight .”

"Telegraph":

"This is not how Ferrari had imagined the home game.

Imola brought some warning signs.

The late spin was a worrying indication that Charles Leclerc may still lack patience, or that he is vulnerable to pressure."

"Daily Mail":

"For aging athletes there is a risk that time will pass and their strength will suddenly disappear.

That may not yet apply to Lewis Hamilton, even after the most terrifying prospect of a career in which he has reached for the stars after a helpless 13th place finish.

His resilience, fighting spirit and need to prove his critics wrong could still take him to new heights.

Still, it's hard to believe now that the Brit will ever be able to win his eighth world title."

Italy:

"Gazzetta dello Sport":

"Black weekend for Ferrari.

Leclerc, you win the World Cup by avoiding certain mistakes!

Monegasque is chasing second place, taking on too much and failing in front of the fans.

Hamilton has to accept a severe humiliation, he is no longer recognizable."

"La Repubblica":

"Verstappen relentless, Leclerc collects mistakes."

"Corriere della Sera":

"This time Verstappen even won without a duel, he devoured Leclerc at the start, flew away while the Ferrari driver slowly seemed like a diver (...).

"Corriere dello Sport":

"Serious disappointment for Ferrari.

The weekend in Imola couldn't have gone worse.

Mistakes, bad luck and negative circumstances in front of 100,000 disappointed fans.

Imola shows once again that even the smallest details count at this World Cup.”

"Tuttosport":

"Bitter weekend for Ferrari.

Too many things don't work: the start, the second pilot, the pit stops.

Disgrace for team boss Binotto, who had hoped for a better performance in front of the Tifosi.

Now it's time to work for the restart.”

Netherlands

"AD.nl":

"Leclerc's mistakes bring Verstappen further in the title fight.

The Dutchman was in a class of his own at Imola, a weekend of wins.

It was a colossal blow to his biggest competitor.”

"De Telegraaf":

"Verstappen and Red Bull give Ferrari a right hook.

The Dutchman drives a perfect race and the dramatic afternoon of the Scuderia gives an extra boost.”

Spain:

"Marca":

"A total debacle on a black day for Ferrari in front of the Tifosi, who were completely disappointed."

"As":

"Fall of the Ferraris.

It couldn't be worse.

Verstappen is in World Cup mode.

Leclerc's high spirits led to the spin."

"Sport":

"Presentation by Verstappen, Leclerc and Ferrari go down without a word.

This time there was hardly anything to be seen of the theoretical superiority of the F1-75.

Serious, unforgivable driving error by Leclerc.

Lewis Hamilton seems to have resigned, being lapped by Verstappen is one of the darkest moments of his career.

"El Mundo Deportivo":

"Max bites hard, Red Bull reacts like a world champion.

Everything went wrong at Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton is being forgotten.”

France:

"Le Figaro":

"Verstappen is in control, Ferrari in slow motion."

"L'Equipe":

"The Grand Prix in Imola is expensive for Ferrari.

Charles Leclerc makes his first mistake of the season, Carlos Sainz doesn't even make a lap.

The Scuderia party is ruined, the mood is no longer festive.”

Switzerland:

"Blick":

"Verstappen victory and Ferrari horror – clean party in Imola!"

"Tages-Anzeiger":

"Red Bull strikes back in Ferrari land of all places."

Austria:

"Kronen Zeitung":

"Verstappen spoils Leclerc's Ferrari home win!"
