In a letter sent on September 28 "to the presidents of the main political parties and to the presidents of the groups in parliament" and consulted by AFP, Gérald Darmanin indicated that the health pass was "not required of participants" in political meetings.

"The participation of all citizens in the political life of the Nation is one of the founding principles of our Republic", writes the Minister, before adding: "I nevertheless wish to underline the responsibility of the organizers in the establishment and compliance with other health measures to limit the spread of the virus ".

According to the letter, the Ministry of the Interior follows the opinion of the Constitutional Council of May 31, which indicated that political meetings did not fall within the scope of large gatherings of people where participants must have the health pass.

This week, the National Assembly gave the first green light to the "health vigilance" bill, with the possibility of using the health pass until July 31, 2022.
