The Board of Directors of the Emirates Football Association praised the role played by the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum in developing the sports sector in general and football in particular through his various initiatives and directives that contributed to the Emirati football occupying the prestigious position at the level of national teams And clubs, in addition to supporting national elements in various fields.

This came during the regular meeting of the FIFA Board of Directors, which was held yesterday at the Federation headquarters in Dubai, headed by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, and in the presence of the members.

The Federation’s Board of Directors approved May 16 as the date for the final match of the President’s Cup competition for the 2020-2021 sports season, which will bring together the Al-Ahly and Al-Nasr youth teams.

The formation of the Referees Committee was also approved, headed by Salem Ali Al Shamsi, Board Member (Chairman), Muhammad Omar Al Shammari (Deputy), and the members: Hamad Al Mazrouei, Abdullah Karam, Yaqoub Al Hammadi, Hamad bin Hanifa, Fatima Al Ameri, and Ibrahim Lamash (as an advisor).

Thus, the new referees committee includes six former referees: Deputy Chairman Muhammad Omar, Yaqoub Al Hammadi, Hamad Al Mazrouei, Abdullah Karam, Hamad bin Hanifa, and the committee’s advisor, Ibrahim Lamash.

The Council reviewed the projects of the National Teams and Technical Affairs Committee, an explanation from the Spanish coaches who were recently appointed to oversee the Olympic and youth teams and the programs that will be launched soon for the teams of the age groups.

The program also reviewed the preparations for the national team for the joint qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup finals to be hosted by the country next June, and the guidance on providing all the needs of the national team to ensure the achievement of positive results.

Yaqoub Al Hammadi: We seek to develop the arbitration apparatus

Former international referee Yaqoub Al Hammadi expressed his happiness at being chosen as a member of the referees committee, stressing that the previous committee did not fail and performed the required work in order to serve and develop the arbitration body, pointing out that they are seeking during the coming period after the new formation of the committee to develop and advance the arbitration body.

Yaqoub Al Hammadi said to "Emirates Today": "I thank Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, President of the Football Association, and the members of the Board of Directors, for this precious confidence, and I will seek, through my experience as a former international referee, to benefit the arbitration and work to develop it."
