A middle school student who came for eye treatment at a hospital in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, was accidentally vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine for COVID-19.

According to the health authorities, medical staff vaccinated Pfizer vaccine to middle school student A, who visited an internal medicine clinic in Namyangju City yesterday (22nd) with swollen eyes.

The hospital, recognizing the mistake after inoculation, notified Ms. A and her guardian of the matter and checked whether there was an abnormal reaction.

Ms. A was tested for symptoms such as mild fever a day later, but no serious adverse reactions have been reported so far.

An official from the health authorities explained, "We are sending personnel to the hospital to investigate the facts, and we are continuously monitoring the students who received the vaccine for any adverse reactions."

Domestic adolescents are not currently eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.

The government announced today that it will announce the detailed plans for the fourth quarter Corona 19 vaccination next week, including vaccinations for pregnant women and children and adolescents aged 12-17 years.
