Brazilian football legend Pele was admitted today, Friday, to the intensive care unit at the Sao Paulo Hospital, where he is being treated after removing a tumor in his colon, according to the “ESPN Brazil” website.

And the legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento (80 years), known as Pele, entered Albert Einstein Hospital on August 31, and underwent surgery last Saturday, to remove a tumor in his colon.

Pele left the intensive care unit last Tuesday, according to a statement from the Albert Einstein Hospital, in which he said: "Patient Edson Arantes do Nascimento is in good clinical condition and has left the intensive care unit. He will continue his recovery in a room."

Pele is the only player in history to win the World Cup three times (1958, 1962 and 1970), and during his career he scored 1,281 goals in 1,363 matches, including 77 goals in 92 matches for the Brazilian team, "Selecao", and chosen by the International Olympic Committee in 1999 as One of the best athletes of the twentieth century, and a year later he was named the best player of the same century by the International Football Association "FIFA".
