While Ramallah does not seem more hectic than usual, in cafes and restaurants, the normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates is the topic of all conversations.

“  There is obviously anger, but more so, one feels betrayed by the United Arab Emirates even though it has been known for a long time that they are normalizing their relations with Israel . And this little by little for years. (...) The Palestinians were not consulted. And they are turning to their advantage by stopping Israeli annexation or at least suspending it. It is an insult to any intelligent person in the Arab world  , ”testifies this young Palestinian woman, shortly after hearing the news.

" A betrayal "

On social networks, reactions follow one another. Mahmoud Abbas , for his part, immediately summoned the leadership of the Palestinian Authority. This is a betrayal for Jerusalem and the Palestinian cause,  " he said in a statement.

The Palestinian president called for an emergency meeting of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. He immediately summoned the Palestinian ambassador to Abu Dabi.

For Hamas, in power in the Gaza Strip, this normalization is at the expense of the Palestinians. And even if the relations between the factions are not in good shape, all agree this time on the fact thatall sections of Palestinian society unite to reject normalization  ".
