Vocational Education Vision

Pay attention to "easy employment" when applying for the exam

Vocational Undergraduate Admissions Geometry

In 2022, the enrollment of public vocational undergraduate colleges will enter the third year.

As a new type of higher education in my country, there are currently 32 vocational undergraduate universities, 10 of which are public vocational undergraduate universities.

Just this year, the newly revised Vocational Education Law came into effect on May 1, and the first batch of vocational education graduates graduated successfully in July. These benefits will undoubtedly be included in the development of vocational undergraduate education.

In October last year, the "Opinions on Promoting the High-quality Development of Modern Vocational Education" issued by the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the General Office of the State Council clearly stated that in 2025, the enrollment scale of vocational undergraduate education should not be less than 10% of the enrollment scale of higher vocational education. %.

As the enrollment of vocational undergraduate colleges and universities is gradually coming to an end in various provinces this year, reporters from China Youth Daily and China Youth Daily contacted the heads of the admissions offices of 10 public vocational undergraduate colleges and universities to try to explore the professional setting, enrollment completion status of these new colleges and universities, and social and social harmony. The degree of public recognition of them also attempts to provide a reference template for the development of vocational undergraduate education in the future.

"Vocational undergraduate majors are really not weak"

Although this year is not the first time to recruit students, but talking to reporters from China Youth Daily and China Youth Daily about the just-concluded 2022 recruiting work, the admissions directors of many public vocational undergraduate colleges still said that they did not dare to take it lightly.

The pressure on these admissions staff comes from the massive increase in vocational undergraduate admissions.

Among the 10 public vocational undergraduate universities in the country, Hebei Province occupies three seats: Hebei Industrial Vocational and Technical University, Hebei Science and Technology Engineering Vocational and Technical University, and Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University.

It is reported that the enrollment scale of each of the three vocational undergraduate colleges in Hebei Province has increased from 350 last year to more than 2,000.

With the expansion of the enrollment, the undergraduate majors for candidates to choose are also more abundant.

In 2022, the number of undergraduate majors recruited by Hebei Vocational and Technical University this year will increase from 5 last year to 17.

For this reason, parents of candidates often ask Meng Yanjun which vocational undergraduate major is strong in the school, and the standard answer from the director of the admissions and employment department is: our vocational undergraduate major is really not weak!

Meng Yanjun told reporters that this is by no means a "cliché".

All vocational undergraduate majors are first selected by the school, and then reviewed by experts from the Department of Education and the Ministry of Education.

The reporter noticed that among the undergraduate admissions programs launched by various public vocational colleges and universities, a considerable number of them have been selected into the high-level professional groups of the "Double High Program".

Ma Yijun, director of the Admissions Office, has recommended Lanzhou Resource and Environment Vocational and Technical University's undergraduate majors: In 2021, the school will add a new vocational undergraduate-level meteorological major: Smart Meteorological Technology, which is the only university in the country to open it. In 2022, the school will start recruiting students as the only major in the country that offers a professional undergraduate degree in energy storage materials engineering technology...

In June of this year, 903 2020 graduates from Nanjing University of Technology and Technology ushered in the graduation season. These first batch of vocational education graduates in the country successfully graduated.

Lian Fei, director of the school's Admissions and Employment Department, introduced to a reporter from China Youth Daily and China Youth Daily that Nanjing Polytechnic University, which has recruited vocational undergraduate students for three consecutive years, will recruit 23 undergraduate majors in 2022.

Through the general college entrance examination for high school graduates, the vocational education college entrance examination for secondary vocational graduates, the general college transfer test for higher vocational graduates, and the five-year consistent system transfer test, the school has three types of students and four channels. This year, the school has a total of The enrollment of undergraduate students will reach 5,147, accounting for 83.5% of the total enrollment plan for the whole year.

Different from nearly 100 higher vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province, as the only public vocational undergraduate college in the province, Nanjing University of Technology plans to build about 40 vocational undergraduate majors during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period to further improve the undergraduate degree. Enrollment ratio.

As the vocational undergraduate enrollment in 2022 is gradually coming to an end in various provinces, the staff also conducted a preliminary analysis of this year's enrollment.

Hebei Vocational and Technical University of Science and Technology entered Hebei for the first time to recruit vocational undergraduates in 21 provinces across the country. Wei Yong, director of the school's Admissions and Employment Office, observed that the admission scores of vocational undergraduates in various places are basically higher than private undergraduate colleges and independent colleges.

This situation is consistent with Meng Yanjun's statistics.

"At present, this ranking is very stable, and it basically represents the level of vocational undergraduate colleges in the minds of parents of candidates." To further improve the status of vocational undergraduate colleges in the hearts of the public, Meng Yanjun believes that it will take time, "at least two A three-year graduate."

"Candidates and parents are no longer obsessed with 'career'"

In 2021, Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University will recruit students for the first time after being promoted to vocational undergraduate colleges, and recruit students in 6 provinces including Hebei Province.

Duan Xinghua, director of the school's Admissions and Employment Office, remembers that the questions asked by the students and parents of the school at that time mainly revolved around three aspects: Will the obtained bachelor's degree certificate indicate "vocational undergraduate degree"?

Can I take the postgraduate entrance exam and the civil service exam after graduation?

Besides private enterprises, how many state-owned enterprises are there among graduate employers?

Duan Xinghua and his colleagues patiently answered these questions one by one: Graduates from vocational undergraduate colleges have the same graduation certificate or degree certificate as ordinary undergraduate colleges; they can take postgraduate exams or civil servant exams...

While answering patiently, Duan Xinghua also understands the psychology of the parents of the candidates.

As a vocational undergraduate college that has appeared in the near future, parents of candidates can’t help but worry: although they are also recruiting undergraduates, will the word “occupation” affect graduates’ job hunting and even future development?

When it comes to recruiting the first vocational undergraduates, Duan Xinghua's experience has also been experienced by Lianfei.

In the third year after the upgrade in 2022, Nanjing Polytechnic University will go out of Jiangsu for the first time and recruit vocational undergraduates in 19 provinces (autonomous regions).

Lianfei admitted that the enthusiasm of candidates and parents was underestimated before.

Each province has different enrollment schedules, but after the announcement of the provincial enrollment plan, a period of time before filling in the application, the consultation call will appear "exploding".

In order to accept the consultation of the parents of candidates, Nanjing University of Technology opened more than a dozen hotlines, and the staff answered them continuously for 8 hours. "Even so, it still cannot meet the consultation needs of all the parents of candidates."

Although there are many consultation calls, the concerns of parents of candidates are relatively focused on "how to choose a major" and "employment after graduation".

In this regard, Lian Fei's analysis pointed out: "The candidates and their parents are no longer entangled in the word 'vocation' of vocational undergraduates, but more about the relationship between what they have learned and future employment development." For this change, Lian Fei believes that the reason There are two aspects.

Just this year, the school trained the country's first graduates of vocational education.

"Under the severe employment situation of college graduates across the country, the overall employment implementation rate, employment quality and enterprise satisfaction of the school's first undergraduate vocational education graduates have reached a high level, and these batches of vocational undergraduate graduates frequently appear in large state-owned enterprises. In the recruitment list of foreign-funded enterprises and high-tech enterprises, many vocational undergraduate graduates hold several employment notices from enterprises, and some have also obtained postgraduate degrees." Lian Fei said with a smile: the so-called seeing is believing!

On the other hand, the newly revised Vocational Education Law of the People's Republic of China was officially implemented on May 1 this year, which clarifies that vocational school students enjoy equal opportunities with ordinary school students at the same level in terms of further education and employment; School graduates have equal employment, fair competition, application, employment, and employment conditions... Lian Fei told reporters: "We communicated and explained all the questions that parents of candidates had before. Now that we have legal protection, everyone is naturally more at ease."

This year, while expanding the scale of enrollment, Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University also expanded the enrollment scope to 22 provinces.

The admissions staff of some vocational undergraduate colleges noticed: "When Liaoning Province announced the undergraduate admissions plan, it added '(Vocational Education Undergraduate)' after the vocational undergraduate colleges." This move inevitably made some vocational undergraduate colleges worry about the Negative impact on enrollment.

Although this year Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University recruited students for the first time in Liaoning Province, the recruitment situation was quite satisfactory.

On July 31, Duan Xinghua said in an interview with a reporter from China Youth Daily and China Youth Daily: "Among the more than 10 provinces (cities and districts) we have enrolled, Liaoning has the largest score line above the provincial control line. "

Preliminary analysis of the reasons, Duan Xinghua believes that it is undeniable that as an "old-fashioned" petroleum vocational college, the graduates of Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University are widely distributed in oil fields and petrochemical units in the three northeastern provinces and are well-known locally.

But he also stressed that this also shows that through the efforts of all parties, the parents of candidates are earnestly accepting accredited vocational undergraduate education.

"Easy employment" attracts candidates to pay attention to vocational undergraduate

After the admission of freshmen in 2021, Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University conducted a questionnaire survey on "Influencing Factors for Students to Apply for Schools". The more than 2,500 students who received the questionnaire survey included the first batch of vocational undergraduates enrolled by the school.

The survey results show that for questions such as "what aspects do you pay more attention to when choosing a school", "why did you apply for Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University", "why did you choose the major you are studying now" and other questions, there are about 10 alternative answers listed. , and employment-related options are in the top three.

In the question "How do you think about petroleum and chemical related jobs", "the industry is developing well and easy to find employment" is the top choice among students.

It is undeniable that the current "difficulty in finding employment" for college graduates is affecting the voluntary choice of college entrance examination candidates for vocational colleges and universities.

"Exports are smooth and imports are prosperous." Ma Yijun, director of the Admissions Office, said that in December last year, Lanzhou Resources and Environment Vocational and Technical University and Lanzhou University were jointly recognized by the Gansu Provincial Department of Education as the first batch of "Gansu Province" Demonstration Universities for College Students' Employment Work".

What is the employment situation in vocational colleges?

Nanjing University of Technology Vocational and Technical University, which has just sent out the first batch of vocational education graduates in the country, was the first to perceive the heat and cold of the market.

"Usually the job fair for higher vocational graduates starts at 2 p.m. and ends at 4 p.m." Lian Fei noticed that the job fair for their first batch of vocational undergraduate graduates runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Employers are leaving one after another.

Compared with the higher vocational graduates' attention to salary and the location of the employer, these undergraduates asked more detailed questions and learned more. "They are also more concerned about the company's follow-up development."

Although many of these graduates have worked in large state-owned enterprises, Lianfei still believes that the recognition of graduates from vocational undergraduate colleges by large state-owned enterprises still needs to be improved.

However, in private enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, these undergraduates are welcomed by employers for their "strong hands-on ability" and "useful use".

Some enterprise staff have reported that some graduates from famous schools have relatively high expectations, and they usually prefer to take public exams, exams, and postgraduate exams. The problem of "difficulty in recruiting".

"And these vocational undergraduates cherish the positions of R&D or field engineers." Lian Fei believes that they have alleviated the employment problems of private enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to a certain extent.

In the activity of visiting enterprises and expanding jobs, leaders of Nanjing Industrial Vocational and Technical University led the team to give in-depth corporate presentations, especially to publicize and promote vocational undergraduates to large state-owned enterprises.

When the head of ZTE's employment department went to Nanjing Polytechnic University to recruit, he was surprised to find that students had done a lot of real projects through school teaching. Students majoring in software engineering technology generally design and develop software independently, and 6 graduates were hired on the spot. Students are engaged in technical positions such as system development.

Lian Fei told reporters that employers generally believe that this batch of undergraduate graduates with "vocational education genes" have outstanding characteristics: practical work, strong technical ability, quick practical operation, and solid technical theoretical foundation.
