Patient examination was delayed by pandemic - had to wait months for cancer diagnosis

The examination was supposed to have taken place in December 2019 but was delayed until March 2020. But even then the patient was not called due to the corona pandemic and the risk of covid-19 infection.

Only in September 2020 was the patient examined.

It was then established that the patient had suffered from cancer.

This delay is now reported to the Swedish Health and Care Inspectorate, IVO, according to lex Maria.

This means that the health service itself must report when patients have been exposed to risk or injury.
