China News Service, July 10, according to Korean media reports, on the afternoon of the 10th local time, the Seoul High Court in South Korea sentenced the former President of the Republic of Korea Park Geun-hye to the political affair case and the bribery case, and sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
Earlier, on May 20, in the final trial of Park Geun-hye’s cronies and the National Intelligence Agency’s bribery case, the South Korean prosecutor demanded that Park Geun-hye be sentenced to 35 years’ imprisonment.

The prosecution guidelines demanded a 25-year fixed-term imprisonment, a fine of 30 billion won, and a recovery of 200 million won; for other suspects of abuse of power, obstruction of the exercise of power, etc., they were required to be sentenced to 10 years in prison and a recovery of 3.3 billion won.
According to previous reports, Park Geun-hye was sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment in the second-instance trial of the Congqin political case, and was fined 20 billion won (about 120 million yuan). On August 29, 2019, the Supreme Court of the South Korean Supreme Court held that Park Geun-hye’s bribery in the Qiangzheng case should be tried separately from other criminal suspects, and the case was sent back to the Seoul High Court for retrial.
In another bribery case of the National Intelligence Agency, Park Geun-hye was sentenced to five years in prison in the second instance and recovered 2.7 billion won (about 16 million yuan). On November 28, 2019, the Grand Court held that the suspected loss of the treasury and bribery suspected innocent in the second instance should be considered guilty, and the case was returned to the retrial.
In addition, Park Geun-hye’s alleged involvement in the referral case has been sentenced to two years in prison.
