The nationwide seven-day incidence has fallen again.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week on Tuesday morning as 1213.0.
For comparison: the previous day the value was 1238.2, a week ago 1306.8, a month ago 1206.2.
The health authorities reported 122,111 new corona infections to the RKI within one day.
However, experts assume that there are a large number of cases that are not recorded in the data.
One reason is the limited capacity of health authorities, for example.
Contacts are often only tracked to a limited extent.
In addition, according to the laboratory association ALM, there is now a larger number of people whose infection is no longer confirmed by a PCR test - these infections are therefore not included in the official statistics.
235 new deaths
According to the new information, 235 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.
A week ago there were 306 deaths.
The number of people who died from or involved a proven infection with the Sars-CoV-2 virus rose to 122,937.
The RKI has counted 14,867,218 infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections go undetected.
The RKI put the number of people who had recovered at 11,239,600.
The number of corona-infected patients who came to clinics per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days was 6.08 on Monday (Friday: 6.28).
Among them are many people with a positive corona test who have another main illness.
The value is not reported on weekends.
