The food bank in Bordeaux and Gironde, which supplies food to 135 associations and communal social action centers, needs reinforcements.

It counts about fifteen new associations, and a rise in needs.

However, some of its older volunteers want to step back in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Collections are carried out in compliance with health rules

In a press release sent on Thursday, it launched an appeal to recruit new volunteers for its logistics activities.

It is looking for “driver-guide crews, order pickers, teams for sorting the food collected, to which we must add bag preparers for students.

»To volunteer, send a message to pierre.barbe@banquealimentaire33.org

The collection activity at distributors has resumed full-time "in strict compliance with health standards to protect the teams," said the press release.

The context of the health crisis is accompanied by a rise in requests from associations: “during the last semester, we distributed 1,800 tonnes of food.

This represents 3.6 million meals and a 20% increase over a normal rate.
