With the rapid spread of the new coronavirus infection, the number of people undergoing home medical treatment is increasing in Tokyo, exceeding 10,000 on the 17th.

This is the level since the 5th wave last summer.

In Tokyo, the number of people undergoing home medical treatment after being confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus was less than 100 for more than two months until the beginning of this month, but it has increased at a stretch due to the rapid spread of the infection. did.

The rate of increase is accelerating, with 1,000 people on the 9th of this month and more than 5,000 on the 14th, five days later.

And on the 17th, the number exceeded 10,000 to 10,814.

The number of people exceeding 10,000 is the highest level since the fifth wave last summer.

In the fifth wave, the number exceeded 10,000 for the first time on July 31, last year, and then exceeded 20,000 on August 12, about two weeks later.

The peak was on August 21, with 26,409 people.

At this time, due to the tight medical care provision system, more and more people were forced to take care of themselves at home because they could not find a hospital, and there were a number of cases where their physical condition suddenly changed and they died at home.

With this Omicron strain, which is said to be highly infectious, there are even more concerns about cases in which people undergoing medical treatment at home infect their families.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is expanding accommodation facilities to encourage their use, and is strengthening a follow-up system for observing the health of people undergoing home medical treatment and a system for home visits in collaboration with the Medical Association.
