Two climbers have died in the Alps on the border between Italy's Aosta Valley and the Swiss canton of Valais.
The Italian mountain rescue team announced on Tuesday that the bodies of the two Swiss had been recovered by helicopter on the Matterhorn.
At almost 4,480 meters, the Matterhorn is one of the highest mountains in the Alps.
The emergency services were alerted after the climbers did not return from their tour.
The site was therefore on the Cresta del Leone (Lion's Crest) at about 3100 meters.
The mountain rescue service initially gave no information on the reason why the two died.
According to media reports, they are said to have crashed.
On Sunday there was a glacier fall in the Dolomites.
After the accident, 13 people are missing.
Seven dead have been confirmed.
There were also eight injured, including two Germans, who are in a clinic in the province of Belluno.
