Today, Monday, Egyptian-Qatari talks were held in Doha, headed by the foreign ministers of the two countries. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry affirmed in an interview with Al Jazeera that there is a political will to intensify bilateral cooperation, and he also talked about a number of regional issues.

Shoukry said that his visit to Doha is an expression of the "joint political will of the two countries to turn the page on the past" and intensify cooperation between them.

He pointed out that the two countries are moving at a steady pace within the framework of the follow-up committee to implement the statement of the Al-Ula summit in Saudi Arabia, which was signed on the fifth of last January.

In the same context, Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said that Shoukry met at the beginning of his visit to Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, in a lengthy one-to-one meeting, followed by a session of official talks in the presence of the delegations of the two countries.

The spokesman added that the two ministers expressed satisfaction during the meeting with the positive developments in Egyptian-Qatari relations following the signing of the Al-Ula statement, and agreed on the importance of moving forward in taking the necessary measures to build on what has been achieved, reactivating the frameworks of bilateral cooperation and continuing to hold the existing follow-up mechanisms, in an effort to Towards settling all outstanding issues between the two countries during the coming period.

For his part, the Qatari Foreign Minister said that the exchange of visits between officials contributes to developing relations to serve the two brotherly countries and peoples.

Arab consultative meeting

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry statement indicated that the meeting dealt with the most prominent current challenges facing the Arab countries and the regional environment, as well as the consultative meeting scheduled to be held tomorrow, Tuesday, to discuss the most prominent Arab issues, and “emphasis on Arab solidarity with Egypt and Sudan during the extraordinary session of the Council The ministerial meeting scheduled to be held on the issue of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.

Tomorrow, the consultative ministerial meeting of Arab foreign ministers will be held in Doha, chaired by the State of Qatar in its capacity as President of the current session of the Arab League Council, and will discuss a number of issues, most notably the situation in Palestine and the recent Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

Shoukry stressed that all options are on the table to deal with the dam crisis, and that Egypt is working with international partners to avoid increasing tension.

On the Libyan issue, the Egyptian Foreign Minister affirmed his country's support for the choices of the Libyan people, and its quest to establish dialogue channels that would facilitate reaching Libyan-Libyan understandings that guarantee stability and preserve sovereignty in this country.

Regarding relations with Turkey, Shoukry indicated that Egypt responded to statements from the Turkish side expressing a desire to develop relations between the two countries, and held an exploratory consultation session, during which it expressed its desire to return to normal relations based on mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs.
