Amel Majri, recovering from a serious knee injury, has announced that she is expecting a child.
The footballer, who plays for Olympique Lyonnais, informed her club, which ensures that it is doing "everything to support her in the coming months".
The 29-year-old winger will also miss the France team for which she has 66 caps and 11 goals.
This is the first time in the history of French women that an international is pregnant.
Six-time European champion with Lyon, Amel Majri "will continue to be followed closely by the club's medical staff to calmly continue her pregnancy and the rehabilitation of her left knee, operated on last October following a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and the external lateral ligament”, indicates OL.
Two months ago, another Lyon player, the Icelandic international, Sara Björk Gunnarsdöttir, gave birth to her son Ragnar Frank.
The player returned to individual training earlier this week, club footage shows.
