The Karate Federation officially decided to postpone the World Championship in Dubai until 2021, as it was scheduled to be held in November of this year, to be addressed to the International Federation, and to set the date of the championship in conjunction with the activities of Expo Dubai 2021.

The decision came during the meeting held by the Federation’s Board of Directors, the day before yesterday, on the tele-video technology, and was attended by the President of the Asian and Emirati Federations and the First Vice President of the International Federation, Major General Nasser Abdul Razzaq Al-Razouqi, the Vice President of the Federation, Marwan Sinkel, and the Secretary-General, Rashid Al Ali, Assistant Secretary General, Hamid Shams, Chief Financial Officer, Muhammad Al Shehhi, and Board Member, Maryam Al Shamsi.

Al-Razouki said, in press statements: “The postponement of the world championship came as a result of a comprehensive assessment of the current conditions the world is going through, due to the spread of the Corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic, the great impact that the epidemic has had on the athletes’ preparations, and the impossibility of establishing local and international championships, because there is no Adequate safeguards for the safety of players, workers and fans ».

He added, "The decision to postpone the World Cup in Dubai will be presented during the meeting of the executive office of the International Federation next Tuesday, especially as the UAE federation has also taken within its decisions in the meeting to suspend all the championships of the current season 2019-2020, until further notice."

He continued: «The rest of the decisions included assigning the Secretary-General of the Federation and Chairman of the Technical Committee Rashid Al Ali, to chair a committee to review the regulations on the local participation of players, and to make a recommendation to study the Federation’s statute and complete it as soon as possible.»

He concluded: «The committee for the creation of new initiatives in the federation was entrusted with undertaking remote lectures for both coaches, referees and players, as well as including special training programs for the national team players with visual and remote communication technology, during the coming period, to ensure the preservation of their levels, both physical Or artistic ».

The Karate Federation renewed its affirmation to stop all activities of the game in the Emirates ... until further notice.
