The Swiss judiciary has officially announced today that the head of the "BN" media group and the Paris Saint-Germain French club, Qatari Nasser Al-Khulaifi, will appear before the court in Switzerland next September on charges related to granting television broadcast rights to the World Cup.
He will also appear before the Federal Criminal Court, starting from September 14 in Bellinzon, the former Secretary General of the International Football Association (FIFA), Frenchman Jerome Valcke, and a third man, whose name was not mentioned in the statement.
The three men are accused of hidden corruption, severe criminal mismanagement, incitement to strict criminal mismanagement and forgery of documents. Al-Khulaifi is accused of granting concessions to Falki, including the use of a luxury apartment on the Italian island of Sardinia, in exchange for obtaining TV broadcast rights for the World Cups 2026 and 2030. He accused al-Khulaifi and the third man working in the field of sports rights to incite mismanagement.
The third man paid Falke 1.25 million in three installments in exchange for granting the French the right hand to former FIFA President Joseph Blatter, the Italian company MB & Silva TD, on media rights to the World Cup 2018 and 2022 and the company, Tavey Sports Marketing. The Greek has the same rights to the World Cups 2026 and 2030 in addition to other tournaments.
On Wednesday, the Swiss judiciary rejected a request to remove three members of the Federal Prosecutor's Office, which was submitted by Al-Khulaifi. The Federal Criminal Court announced that the Complaints Court rejected the request to step down by Al-Khulaifi against two federal prosecutors and a federal prosecutor. She explained that Al-Khulaifi requested that, considering in particular that "the December 6, 2019 session did not give him enough time to approach the points he wanted."
