Ocean One D star lifts off to build my country's first maritime civil service satellite constellation

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, June 11 (Reporter Hu Zhe) The reporter learned from the National Space Administration that on June 11, my country successfully launched the Ocean One D star with the Long March 2C carrier rocket at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. The star will form my country's first maritime civil service satellite constellation with Ocean One C star, greatly improving my country's ability to effectively observe the global ocean color, coastal zone resources and ecological environment, and help build a strong marine nation.

Ocean One D star is my country's fourth series of marine aquatic satellites, and one of the first marine operational satellites in the national civil space infrastructure planning. The star will conduct network observations in the morning and afternoon with Ocean One C, which was successfully launched in 2018, to fill the gap in the absence of observation data for my country's ocean color satellites in the afternoon.

According to experts, the observation of the double-star network can double the daily observation frequency and the observation data obtained. The afternoon observation of the sea area affected by the solar flare in the morning can be avoided. The observation sea area covered by clouds and the unobserved area in the morning can be obtained in the afternoon. To make up, and to greatly improve the effective observation capacity of the global ocean color, coastal zone resources and ecological environment, it indicates that China is among the forefront of the international ocean color remote sensing field.

The satellite adopts the CAST2000 satellite platform independently developed by China and is equipped with five payloads with the same performance as the Ocean One C star. Among them, the ocean water color temperature scanner is used to detect global ocean water color elements and sea surface temperature field, and the coastal zone imager is used to obtain Near-shore water environment, coastal zone, rivers and lakes ecological environment information, ultraviolet imager is used for atmospheric correction of high-turbidity water bodies near the shore, calibration spectrometer is used to monitor the water color water temperature scanner and ultraviolet imager on-orbit radiation accuracy and stability, ships The automatic identification system is used to obtain the position information of ocean vessels.

According to reports, the National Space Administration is responsible for the implementation and management of the Ocean One D-Star project. The Ministry of Natural Resources is the lead user department, and the National Satellite Marine Application Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources is the project legal person. Ocean One D Star and Changzheng Two C Carrier Rockets were developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation Limited, China Academy of Space Technology Aerospace Dongfanghong Satellite Co., Ltd. and China Launch Vehicle Technology Research Institute respectively.

In the follow-up, the National Satellite Marine Application Center will organize satellite in-orbit testing with relevant application units to ensure that the satellites are put into operation on time.
