Preparations have been ongoing throughout this year.

- We have known for several years that we will move down to Universitetskajen, but it is now the last few months that we have planned in a sharp situation, says Johanna Palm, librarian and relocation coordinator.

Moving an entire library is not done in a jiffy.

Several of the shelves will accompany the new place.

Specifically to the yellow house called Stella.

- We will have access to the premises on December 1, now all the books are packed on trolleys before we transport them to their new place.

Students can still get books

Johanna Palm and her colleagues think it feels good that the move will finally be over.

- It feels good.

We have been planning heaven for a long time so we are charged.

During the move, the library is closed, but students will still be able to borrow books.

- They will be able to order books and pick them up and return them at our temporary premises on Universitetskajen.

It feels important to be able to offer it.

What will the students face when you open again?

- A bright yellow building with a fantastic view of the harbor entrance.

We have tried to keep a variety of study places just like today.

A school takes over

In the old premises, there have been problems with a high noise level.

- We hope we avoid it now.

When the university library has moved out, the premises will be converted into a school.

This is the second major library move in Kalmar this year.

At the beginning of November, the city library opened in its new premises in this old post office.
