The North Mariana Islands Football Association has become the 47th full member of the AFC, according to what the latter announced today after its General Assembly held via video call technology.

The Federation of Northern Mariana Islands has held observer status since July 2009.

The President of the AFC, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, congratulated the North Mariana Islands Federation, saying, "I am confident that the game will continue to develop strongly under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the North Mariana Islands Federation, Jerry Tan."

The island is located in the Pacific Ocean on the way from Hawaii to the Philippines, covering an area of ​​464 square kilometers and a population of 53 thousand people.

It is politically united with the United States and consists of 15 islands.

The new union will join the East Asia Federation, which consists of ten federations, most notably Japan, South Korea and China.
