North Korea in poor economic condition provides $300,000 in extradition assistance to Myanmar

North Korea provided $300,000 in humanitarian aid to Myanmar through the United Nations.

According to the financial confirmation service of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs released this year, North Korea provided $300,000 to the 'Myanmar Humanitarian Response Plan 2021' project.

This project provides support for COVID-19 response, natural disaster response, food and sanitation, etc. to 90,000 Myanmar residents who are in a humanitarian crisis.

So far, the governments of 14 countries, including South Korea, the United States, Japan, Canada, and Sweden, and the EU External Assistance Organization have contributed to the fund, raising a total of $51.16 million, and North Korea is known to be the only communist country.

South Korea provided $600,000 in total for this project.

According to the UN Humanitarian Affairs Coordination Office, the last time North Korea provided funding for a UN humanitarian project was 2010.

It is unusual for North Korea to provide humanitarian aid to Myanmar, which is also in poor economic condition, and attention is focused on the purpose of the aid.
