Called RE-LEAF (pronounced like "relief", which in English means relief, assistance, rescue), this functional prototype has been modified to be able to operate on roads covered with debris.

Among its specific features are weather-resistant sockets mounted directly outside the vehicle, thanks to which the car's lithium-ion battery can power 110-230 volt devices.

The vehicle can be driven into the heart of a disaster area and thus provide a fully mobile power supply to facilitate searches.

The integrated energy management system can operate medical, communication, lighting, and other emergency equipment.

Natural disasters are the main cause of power outages.

When they do occur, the power restoration time is typically 24 to 48 hours, depending on the severity of the damage.

During this period, electric vehicles, which are charged two-way, can be used to provide zero-emission mobile backup power.

This is the case with the Nissan LEAF for example.

This prototype was therefore created to demonstrate the potential of electric vehicles in the rehabilitation of disaster areas.

Acting as a mobile power station, the latest generation of Nissan LEAF e +, with a 62 kWh battery, can provide enough electricity to power a household for six days.
