New travel instructions to Shanghai after Etihad flights are temporarily canceled

Etihad Airways announced that six guests who traveled on August 3 on its flight number EY862 from Abu Dhabi to Shanghai had tested positive for nucleic acid tests after their arrival at Pudding International Airport, according to the Shanghai Office for the Protection and Prevention of the New Corona Virus, and accordingly, the guests underwent The six were to undergo a mandatory PCR examination and did not show any symptoms, and the result of the examination was negative upon completion of the travel procedures.

A spokesman for Etihad Airways said that the six guests are currently being quarantined at a medical facility in Shanghai.

The spokesman pointed out that under the directives of the Chinese Civil Aviation Authority, the Etihad Airways flight that will operate on August 17 between Abu Dhabi and Shanghai and the Etihad Airways flight EY867, which operates between Shanghai and Abu Dhabi, has been canceled on August 18.

He noted that Etihad Airways has notified and assisted the guests who booked on this flight as well

In response to the current circumstances, Etihad Airways has amended travel directives related to all guests traveling to Shanghai.All guests traveling to Shanghai must present negative results for the novel coronavirus and obtain them within 48 hours of departure from Abu Dhabi or from the airport of take-off if they are coming from another city. Via Abu Dhabi, it applies to all guests including children and infants.

The spokesman also stressed that the examination should be carried out through a medical center approved by the local government or any medical center determined by the Chinese embassy in the country of departure. And in the case of travel from the UAE, Etihad Airways only accepts PCR results from the approved centers of Mediclinic Hospital or SEHA.

 The spokesman noted that if the test results are positive, guests will not be allowed to travel. In this case, Etihad Airways will rebook the guest or he can cancel the reservation and use the value of the ticket to book an upcoming flight with the Etihad credit.

 The spokesman stressed that before the trip, the guests should ensure that their details are updated and the health declaration is filled out.

A PCR examination must be performed within 96 hours (48 hours for Shanghai flights) from the departure time and a negative test result must be submitted from an accredited medical center in order to be approved for boarding.
