Essen (dpa) - In connection with right-wing extremist chats with the North Rhine-Westphalian police, there were again searches on Tuesday morning.
This was confirmed by a spokeswoman for the Duisburg public prosecutor.
It is about nine other suspects who were encountered in the course of the investigation into right-wing extremist WhatsApp chats.
The «Bild» newspaper had previously reported.
The officials are being investigated for incitement to hatred and the use of symbols of unconstitutional organizations.
They are accused of posting relevant pictures, videos and audio files.
On Tuesday, 17 properties were searched, including in Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr and Velbert.

The number of accused police officers who are said to have posted anti-constitutional or hate speech content in WhatsApp groups increases to a total of 24 people.
Further storage media were secured on Tuesday that now have to be evaluated.
It was initially unclear whether the suspects were suspended.
According to the "Bild" newspaper, the accused are said to be a bowling group of police officers from Mülheim and Essen.
