We'll have to wait until 2023 for the new, all-electric Porsche Macan to arrive.

The smaller of two SUV models is extremely important for Porsche, as more than 600,000 units have been sold since 2014.

Four fifths of customers are new, and no more Porsches are bought by more women.

In the first half of 2021, the Cayenne and Macan were almost on par in the sales statistics: 44,000 to 43,600.

Porsche also reports a growth of 31 percent worldwide compared to the first six months of 2020.

There are generally no more diesel engines, but sales have not fallen, and before they say goodbye, the three remaining combustion models of the Macan are now getting more horsepower. As a GTS, the Macan now has 440 horsepower. 60 more than before are brought out of the 2.9-liter V6 engine. In the S, the twin-turbo engine offers 380 hp, which is an increase of 26. A newly developed, supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 265 hp now functions as the entry-level engine. That's enough for a top speed of 232 km / h. The previous entry-level model had 245 hp.

The S and GTS versions create top speeds of 259 and 272 km / h.

In addition to changes to the chassis and retouching of the design as well as larger wheels, the new center console with touch surface should be mentioned, which "brings a clear structure into the cockpit instead of buttons", as Porsche says.

From experience, the editors know only too well that touch is not always the last word in wisdom, and they have doubts.

The new Macan takes over the new multifunction and GT sports steering wheels from the Porsche 911. All models have an analog clock above the now shortened gear lever.

It remains with the seven-speed dual clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.

Orders can already be placed, delivery is from October, the price list starts at 62,917 euros, the S costs 71,723, the GTS 88,264 euros.
