The government has changed the basic policy for dealing with the new corona, and has decided to include relaxation of border measures that have suspended new entry of foreigners in principle as measures against Omicron stocks.

Relaxation of border measures

The proposed change to the basic coping policy states that the current framework for border measures will be gradually relaxed from the 1st of next month, based on the accumulation of knowledge about Omicron strains.

Specifically, the waiting period after entering Japan is basically the current 7 days, but if a negative test is confirmed on the 3rd day, there is no need to wait after that.

The waiting period at the facility designated by the quarantine station, which is requested of immigrants from "designated countries / regions" where the spread of Omicron strains is seen, is set to 3 days.

On the other hand, those who have completed the third vaccination will be on standby at home even if they are from "designated countries / regions", and those who are from other than "designated countries / regions" will be exempt from waiting.

In addition, new foreigners who have been suspended in principle will be allowed to enter the country for purposes other than tourism under the control of the person in charge of acceptance, and the maximum number of foreigners entering the country per day will be raised from the current 3,500 to 5,000. increase.

Vaccination of children

Vaccinations for children aged 5 to 11 will be carried out after the relevant government ordinances have been promulgated and enforced later this month.

Reduction of health center operations

In order to reduce the work burden of health centers, which have been pointed out as being tight, the "active epidemiological survey" to investigate close contacts and infection routes is to hospitalize patients with a particularly high risk of serious illness, such as medical institutions and facilities for the elderly.・ It is said that it will be prioritized when a cluster occurs at the facility where it is located.

Securing medical care provision system and beds

On the other hand, in order to secure a bed for patients with a high risk of aggravation, patients who do not have any worsening of symptoms to "moderate 2" or higher who require oxygen administration after the 4th day after admission should stay at an accommodation facility or at home. It is recommended that you switch to medical treatment at the hospital or consider transferring to another medical institution that accepts patients who are discharged early.

In addition, for mildly ill patients who have been confirmed to be infected at a facility for the elderly, the medical care provision system will be strengthened by dispatching doctors and nurses so that they can be treated in the facility.
