The Mauves bridge reopened this Friday -

Loire-Atlantique Departmental Council

They had surely been missed by the 4,500 motorists in the east of the Nantes conurbation who use them daily in normal times.

After ten months of closure to traffic due to work, the Mauves bridges, which span the Loire between the municipalities of Mauves-sur-Loire and Divatte-sur-Loire, reopened this Friday afternoon, indicates the departmental council .

The users who have crossed it in recent hours have surely noticed the changes: the road has been replaced by concrete slabs, lighter, the metal frames have been repainted in "pigeon blue".

And above all, bridges specially dedicated to the crossing of cyclists and pedestrians have been added on each side.

From now on, vehicles weighing up to 8 tonnes (compared to 3.5 tonnes previously) can travel on bridges, under reinforced surveillance since 2002.

Today is the reopening of the Mauves-sur-Loire bridges, the end of a rehabilitation project initiated last February by the Department

Works until 2023

If this first phase of work was particularly handicapping for users, the site is not finished.

Until 2023, without hindering traffic, operations are in fact planned to help reinforce the foundations of the 482 m and 90 m structures built at the end of the 19th century, today damaged by corrosion.

The total budget for these four years of work amounts to 23 million euros.
