"This concept will be discussed and agreed upon by the Council at a permanent session and will be approved by the heads of state and government of NATO at the next summit," reads a statement on the alliance's website.
It is noted that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will lead the process of developing the next strategic concept.
Earlier it was reported that NATO countries intend to revise the strategic concept of the alliance in order to counter the "aggressive actions" of Russia and "challenges" from China.
