The decision that some residents feared finally fell on Thursday morning.
For health security reasons, the traditional Nantes Christmas market, which was to open its doors at the end of November (and therefore before the end of the confinement period) on the Place Royale and Place du Commerce, will not take place.

“It is obviously a difficult decision: the Christmas market and the Other Market are moments of joy and celebration expected at the end of the year, but the health of the people of Nantes, and of all the inhabitants of the metropolis , is obviously the first priority ”specifies in a press release Johanna Rolland, Mayor of Nantes.
The Christmas spirit will not be completely extinguished since if the 120 small chalets will not be there, the illuminations will be maintained throughout the city.

streets and squares will be lit “in white and ruby colors as well as over 400 sets”.
The installation has already started.
