About ten cars parked along the road at a military checkpoint.

Suren, 58, comes from the Martouni region in Nagorno-Karabakh.

His village is now within range of the Azerbaijani army.

Suren decided to take his wife to safety in Armenia.

“

It's very tense, really very tense.

They're sending us Smertch rockets.

They have drones, cluster bombs, they have everything and we have nothing.

They destroyed missile defense systems and now they are trying to eliminate us.

They want to surround us, but we will fight to the end.

Like all Nagorno-Karabakh men under the age of 60, Suren is not allowed to leave the region.

He had no intention of doing so anyway.

As is Kamo, 54, who comes from the same village.

He comes to drop off his wife and mother who go to relatives in Armenia

They use very sophisticated weapons against civilians.

It is a real genocide of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Our village has so far been spared, but the neighboring towns are half destroyed.

We are worried because the enemy is approaching the neighboring village of ours.

"

Kamo and Suren leave for Nagorno-Karabakh.

That night, armed with automatic rifles, they will stand guard near their village.
