Dresden (dpa / sn) - Saxony's museums are giving virtual insights into their holdings this Sunday for International Museum Day.

Due to the corona pandemic, the houses cannot yet receive guests directly.

Among other things, they present their treasures as well as exciting objects and projects under the hashtag «Discovering museums».

According to the Ministry of Culture, more than 40 houses with around 90 offers can be explored online at Museum Day in Saxony.

These include the industrial museum in Chemnitz with digital video tours through the special exhibition “Machine Boom” or the Leipzig Natural History Museum with a video game in the style of the 1990s.

The Leipzig Museum for the Art of Printing presents origami tricks, for music lovers the Mendelssohn House in Leipzig offers a highlight with the live broadcast of the Sunday matinee.

Many museums in Saxony have already expanded their online offerings in the past year - with live digital tours or 360-degree tours.

There are more than 400 museums in Saxony.
