It's a nice climb.

The MP for Gironde Bérangère Couillard, appointed at the age of 35 as Secretary of State for Ecology, had a career in mass distribution, food and clothing, before joining the Assembly in 2017 under the colors of LREM.

This native of Rennes was re-elected in June against an LFI candidate from the left alliance Nupes with more than 52% of the vote.

In 2017, she had beaten a PS candidate.

She now becomes Secretary of State to the new Minister for Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, the ex-LR Christophe Béchu.

To the High Council for Energy

His entry into the government comes as the second part of the national biodiversity strategy is expected, and the COP15 biodiversity at the international level is looming in December.

Bérangère Couillard is a full member of the Superior Council for Energy.

During the previous mandate, she sat on the Commission for Sustainable Development.

She had notably been co-rapporteur of the mobility orientation law, aimed at improving daily travel for the French.

She had also been rapporteur for a LREM bill aimed at protecting victims of domestic violence, and was a member of the delegation for women's rights, as well as of the High Council for Equality (HCE).

A former member of IKKS

A graduate in management, Bérangère Couillard worked in mass distribution, notably for the chocolate chain De Neuville, and from 2016 for the French clothing group IKKS.

Inserted several years in the PS, “I never made the decision to militate”, she explained.

The young deputy was also a member of the association Le Refuge in Bordeaux, which offers support to young victims of homophobia, in particular by welcoming those who are rejected by their families.
