Two minors aged 15 and 16 are accused of having desecrated 74 graves in the cemetery of Fameck, in Moselle.
Questioned by the gendarmes, they recognized the facts and explained that they had acted out of a desire to "reproduce the universe of their favorite musical groups".
No burial has also been desecrated.
Two young people aged 15 and 16 were arrested for having degraded more than 70 graves in the Fameck cemetery (Moselle), explaining that they wanted to "reproduce the universe of their favorite musical groups", the Thionville floor said on Wednesday.
"No burial has been desecrated, no inscription has been made and no claim has been made," said the public prosecutor, Brice Partouche, in a statement.
No criminal record
The two teenagers, without any criminal record, admitted the facts, which occurred between November 16 and 22 at the new Fameck cemetery, north of Metz. "74 graves were identified as having been affected by these acts: crosses were overturned, others deposited, some returned", details the prosecutor, who still mentions "destroyed" flowers or "memorial plaques (... ) degraded ".
The investigation by the Thionville gendarmerie, "fed in particular by testimonies and observations made on social networks", made it possible to "quickly" identify two minors aged 15 and 16 living in Fameck, according to Brice Partouche.
In front of the investigators, they justified their actions by the desire to "reproduce the universe of their favorite musical groups", still reports the magistrate.
The two teenagers will be summoned later before the children's judge of the Thionville court, according to Brice Partouche.
